José Kozer Collection

The Kozer Collection at Killam Library is comprised not only of the published works by Cuban Poet José Kozer, but also includes more than 900 books written by over 200 noteworthy poets and authors from Latin America, Spain and the United States. The collection also contains bilingual editions and translations - into Spanish, Portuguese, Basque and other languages - of unique works by authors of global prominence, such as Augusto Roa Bastos and Literature Nobel Prize winners Tomas Transtomer (2011) and Octavio Paz (1990). Most of the books in the Kozer Collection are inscribed by the authors or translators with captivating expressions of love, friendship and admiration. This is a living collection. Killam Library started building it in 2008. Among the first eight titles acquired is Replicas, a rare work by Kozer designed and illustrated by Rolando Estévez Jordán. The Kozer Collection is located in the Special Collections and Archives at Killam Library. It continues to grow as more books with inscriptions are obtained by the Poet and subsequently acquired by Killam Library. The Kozer Collection will enhance scholarly research at TAMIU by providing access to a wide range of contemporary Hispanic poetry and literature not commonly collocated elsewhere. This collection will attract scholars, readers and general public from a wide geographic range, that are interested in contemporary Hispanic literature in general and Latin American poetry in particular.

TAMIU Faculty Authored Book Collection

The Killam Library developed the TAMIU Faculty Authored Book (FAB) Collection to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the University and to recognize book scholarship published by our faculty. The FAB Collection will continue to add authors and books from earlier years to become a comprehensive corpus of works published over the 40-year history of our institution. The collection will also continue to grow as new books are produced by TAMIU faculty in the future. Whenever possible the library has acquired copies of the FAB collection works to place in the Special Collections for preservation and in the general collection for lending to library users. Books are included when the faculty member is the sole author, co-author, main editor, co-editor or translator.
