Selected Databases

National Newspapers - (Proquest): Coverage of 5 major newspapers, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and the Christian Science Monitor. Note: the Los Angeles Times must be added to this bundle separately per publisher agreement using the associated checkbox below.

Newspaper Source - (EBSCO): Full-text for over 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. Some full-text for over 260 regional (U.S.) newspapers. Also contains full text television and radio news transcripts from major news stations, such as CNN, NPR etc.

Historical New York Times - (Proquest): This database covers The New York Times from its first issue in 1851 through 2004. It offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.

Academic Universe - (Lexis-Nexis): LexisNexis Academic Universe provides access to full-text news, business, and legal publications, using a variety of flexible search options. Over 40 different databases are available by cagegory: News (U.S. and international papers, newswires, news magazines, media transcripts, blogs, some updated hourly), General (as News, plus business, industry, and healthcare publications), Legal (federal, state, Canadian, and EU statutes and court cases, law reviews, patents), Business (company dossiers, profiles, and financial reports), and People (who’s whos and obituaries).

Early American Newspapers Series 1-5 (1690-1922): As part of the Readex, America's Historical Newspapers Series, this product offers more than 200 significant 18th and 19th-century newspapers. EAN Series II focuses on the period between 1820 and 1860, when the number of American newspapers rose dramatically. Based primarily on the newspaper collection of the American Antiquarian Society, Series II also includes titles from the holdings of the Library of Congress, the Wisconsin Historical Society and other organizations. Dates of coverage vary by newspaper. Newspapers are in the process of being digitized and added to this Series II collection. As of July 2006, 125 of the newspapers had been added. The project is expected to be completed in two years or less.

InfoTrac Newsstand : Austin-American Statesman from 1996, El Paso Times, Houston Chronicle from 1996 - (Gale): InfoTrac Custom Newspapers features full-text articles from newspapers. Selected articles from additional sources of news and business information supplement the collection. Users customize their collection by selecting from a growing list of important publications including regional, national and international sources. In addition, InfoTrac Custom Newspapers is available on the PowerSearch technology platform, allowing users to cross-search InfoTrac Custom Newspapers with magazines, journals and reference works from Gale.

Latin American NewsStand(Proquest) - Spanish language content: A ProQuest database that offers a selection of full-text Latin-American newspapers and newswires covering international and Latin-American regional topics.

Newspaper Archive - (NewspaperArchive.com): Largest historic newspaper archive online, dating as far back at the 1700's. 3028 titles from around the world.

  • News Voyager - Links to the homepages of more than 2,000 newspapers nationwide, plus some Canadian and international papers. Many of the homepages include links to local information sources for the city or ainks to local information sources for the city or area served by the newspaper, as well as current articles in full text.
  • Latin American Network Information Center - NewspapersProvides access to newspapers in Latin America and around the world.
  • Internet Public Library Internet Public Library. Entries include links and brief description of newspaper.
