ABI/Inform Complete - (Proquest): Microsoft's Bill GatesMarkets tumble on Dow Jones IndexEconomist magazineWind farmSmart phone ABI/INFORM Complete The most comprehensive ABI/INFORM™ database, this comprises ABI/INFORM Global, ABI/INFORM Trade and Industry, and ABI/INFORM Dateline. The database features thousands of full-text journals, dissertations, working papers, key newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times, as well as country-and industry-focused reports and data. Its international coverage gives researchers a complete picture of companies and business trends around the world.

Business Source Complete: "It provides citations, summaries, and full text of articles from academic journals, magazines, and trade publications. Additional full text, non-journal content includes financial data, books, monographs, major reference works, book digests, conference proceedings, case studies, investment research reports, industry reports, market research reports, country reports, company profiles, SWOT analyses and more. "

Academic Universe - (Lexis-Nexis): LexisNexis Academic Universe provides access to full-text news, business, and legal publications, using a variety of flexible search options. Over 40 different databases are available by cagegory: News (U.S. and international papers, newswires, news magazines, media transcripts, blogs, some updated hourly), General (as News, plus business, industry, and healthcare publications), Legal (federal, state, Canadian, and EU statutes and court cases, law reviews, patents), Business (company dossiers, profiles, and financial reports), and People (who’s whos and obituaries).

Mergent Web Reports Online - (Mergent): Mergent is a company information database with detailed financial data and other information (officers, directors, recent events) for public companies in the United States and worldwide. When you enter the database, click “Search Mergent WebReports” in the upper right corner of the screen to search for a company. Make sure that the company name is correct, and even then you may have to scroll through a list of variations before you find the most recent report for the parent company or the branch that interests you. Click on the page number or the PDF logo and not on the type of manual (INDUSTRIAL, INTERNATIONAL, BANK & FINANCE, etc.). The screen may be difficult to read without increasing the magnification. Most company reports continue on the following page - use the page controls on the toolbar at the top left of the screen to move from page to page. If you have trouble searching this database, ask at the Reference Desk.

NBER Working Papers: These are initial findings by National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) aimed at other professional economists in academic institutions, business, government, and the business media around the world. Economía y Negocios: This bibliographic database is a tool for research conducted in the areas of business and economics. Search functionality is enhanced through the incorporation of author keywords supplied in Spanish and English. It provide coverage for over 200 Spanish and Portuguese-language periodicals published in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, the United States and elsewhere.

Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU): The EIU includes access to four different services: Country Profile, Country Report, Market Indicators and Forecasts, and The Economist.com

InfoSel - (Invertia Plus: ID/psswd only) - Spanish language content: Spanish language business database which contains up-to-date stock market information. Requires an ID and password for access.

International Financial Statistics - International Monetary Fund: Contains world tables, country tables, commodity prices, etc…

  • EDGAR: SEC Forms and Filings - The SEC requires all public companies (except foreign companies and companies with less than $10 million in assets and 500 shareholders) to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms electronically through EDGAR.
  • Texas Comptroller Office: Corporation Search - Provides public tax information on Texas companies. Useful tool for researching private companies in Texas.
  • Economic Census - The Economic Census profiles the US economy every 5 years, from the national to the local level. Reports are now available for all geographic areas and all sectors.
  • County Business Patterns - County Business Patterns is an annual series that provides subnational economic data by industry/by U.S. county. The series is useful for studying the economic activity of small areas; analyzing economic changes over time; and as a benchmark for statistical series, surveys, and databases between economic censuses.
  • Zip Code Business Patterns - Provides similar information as County Business Patterns, by U.S. postal zip code.
